Job Summary:

At Disney Experiences Technology, our team creates world-class immersive digital experiences for the Company’s premier vacation brands including Disney’s Parks & Resorts worldwide, Disney Cruise Line, Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, and Disney Vacation Club. The Disney Experiences Technology team is responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation, and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including the MyDisneyExperience app and Hey, Disney!

This Principal Software Engineer will sit in the Disneyland Ticketing Technology organization within Technology & Digital for Disney Experiences - directly leading the development efforts for our group.

What You'll Do:

  • Own the analysis, design, delivery, and modifications of software improvements and/or new products used in local, networked, cloud-based, or Internet-related computer programs

  • Possess expertise in current programming languages and technologies, with strong skills in writing code and programming tasks

  • Contribute to the conception, design, development, testing, and implementation of software components, fixes, improvements, and/or new systems and applications

  • Exercise full autonomy to interact with users across diverse teams and levels to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications

  • Initiate the testing and debugging of applications, using conceptual and innovative thinking to drive sophisticated, highly scalable solutions throughout the organization

  • Lead projects that may be used in commercial and end-user applications or focus on software and tools supporting infrastructure and technology platforms

  • Lead and influence the direction and prioritization of the design and development of highly scalable software systems and applications

  • Continuously monitor and evaluate emerging technologies within your area of expertise to drive informed decision-making and recommendations

  • Drive evaluation, adoption, and implementation of generative AI platforms/solutions to increase productivity in software delivery

  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture and Solution Engineering to guide architecture, roadmaps, and software delivery - shaping overall strategy for the ticketing/entitlement space

  • Design best practices used in the development, maintenance, and administration of systems, including software platform and configuration updates across multiple business units

  • Work with key software vendors to provide requirements (functional and non-functional) and influence their solutions to ensure that the requirements will be met

Required Qualifications: 

  • 10+ years of related work experience in of Software Engineering role

  • Deep experience within Java development and Services/MicroServices Architecture

  • Validated experience with relational databases (MS SQL, AuroraDB) and monitoring/logging tools (e.g. Splunk, Grafana, AppDynamics)

  • Direct experience working within Cloud platforms (e.g. AWS)

  • Experience leveraging generative AI technologies to increase productivity and enhance quality of software delivery

  • Excellent leadership abilities, to ensure effective growth and development of team, that can motivate teams and foster creativity within them

  • Ability to lead multiple projects at a time and tackle sophisticated technical and operational challenges in an agile environment

  • Experience documenting designs using appropriate diagrams and tools

  • Confident and professional speaking and presentation abilities among groups, higher-level leadership, and in virtual environments

  • Demonstrated mentorship mentality, looking for opportunities to mentor and lead in the context of large-scope projects and initiatives across multiple teams

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's or foreign equivalent Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

  • Domain expertise in Ticketing/Entitlement Management systems

  • Experience working in a hospitality or travel industry

  • Advanced knowledge of systems applications and hardware, server architecture, operating platforms, NAS/SAN technologies, and internet and web applications.

  • Experience/familiarity with Node JS, Python, Non-SQL (e.g. MongoDB), Docker, Kubernetes, Consul/Vault, Flutter, mobile development, hybrid or mobile hybrid experience

The hiring range for this position in Anaheim is $188,400 to $252,600 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
