Join the ABC News Product & Strategy team as a Product Manager, where you'll play a crucial role in supporting, designing and rolling out solutions for our production and delivery workflows and tools. You will be responsible for solving complex problems across various production, operations, and editorial stakeholder groups, with a special focus on production control rooms, master control automation, and streaming distribution. This role is responsible for gathering requirements, designing solutions, and managing the rollout of new systems.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with operations and production teams to identify and address specific needs in control room, live streaming, and digital workflows. This includes pre-production workflows and scheduling solutions.
- Support the integration and optimization of production and master control systems, including working with vendors and solutions like Versio automation, Ross switchers and automation, XPression graphics, and other PCR/MCR technologies
- Manage the entire lifecycle of production workflows, from initial concept to deployment and post-launch support.
- Work closely with software development, media operations, product development, and editorial groups to develop and refine solutions.
- Play a key role in the change management process, ensuring smooth transitions and user adoption of new production technologies and workflows.
- Design and implement training programs for staff on new production systems and tools.
- Maintain a deep understanding of the latest trends and technologies in live television news broadcasting and production, FAST channels, and the direct-to-consumer landscape.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in television, streaming, or digital news production, with a specific focus on supporting 24/7 systems for sure in channel origination and distribution.
- Proven ability to work effectively with operations, production, and technology teams in a media environment.
- Experience working with software development and engineering teams to define requirements, refine features, and ultimately launch new tools and workflows
- Knowledge of various production automation, master control, and broadcast systems and vendors, and the ability to stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in the field.
- Experience in product management, particularly in media or broadcast-related projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with a wide range of broadcast technologies including Evertz Magnum/IRM, Riedel intercom, Ross automation/switchers/graphics, Lawo audio, VizRT graphics, Avid environments, AWS Elemental Live encoding, and others
- Background in software development or UX design, particularly in solutions related to live television news production.

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $148,700 to $199,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
