General Description

Liaison representative between Oriental Land Company (OLC) Engineering Division and Disney’s Facility Operations (FOS) Services Division focused on protecting and preserving the Disney Brand.  This role entails being the primary safety interface between Oriental Land Company Engineering Division and Disney’s Facility Operations Services and Worldwide Safety Assurance (WSA) Divisions.  In addition, this role includes ensuring compliance with Disney and relevant Amusement Industry safety standards.

The position is a contract role with the possibility of renewal for up to three years. There is also potential for the contract to be converted into a permanent position.

Position Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Focus on supporting the execution of the Walt Disney Attractions Japan (WDAJ) Strategic Priorities.
  • Build and maintain relationships between OLC and Disney’s FOS and WSA Divisions
  • Subsequent to relevant training, advanced understanding of Disney Standards and their applicability with specific focus regarding safety.
  • Facilitate meetings and other communications as necessary to ensure proper integration with other Lines of Business and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Review Oriental Land Company Engineering Division design changes and communicate any relevant information to Engineering Director or other affected Lines of Business.
  • Prepare written reports and presentations to brief Engineering Director, Executive Committee Team, and Engineering Team on relevant information.
  • Arrange the technical content of business trips to other Disney sites
  • Ensure integration of personnel, schedules and disciplines at the working level
  • Coordinate Tier III Audit activities between Disney’s WSA team and OLC Engineering Division
  • Facilitate the annual Facility Show Quality Assessment for both Tokyo Disney Resort (TDR) parks; Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, as well as the Disney branded hotels.
  • Perform periodic Tier II Audits of OLC Engineering Maintenance and Safety Procedures
  • Domestic and international travel required

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering, Sciences or Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum five (5) years proven industry experience in design or operation of heavy mechanical equipment such as theme park rides, large conveyance systems, automotive or large robotic systems.
  • Sound understanding of an integrated design, production/construction, and commissioning process with multiple disciplines.
  • Proven collaboration and leadership skills across multiple Lines of Business
  • Ability to comfortably communicate in presentation, conversation, and written correspondence in both Japanese and English.
  • Ability to think strategically and tactically about complex issues and problem-solve to resolution.
  • Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of Japanese and Amusement Industry standards such as ASTM F24
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and MS Office 365 tools (Excel Power Queries, Power BI, Power Automate).

Required Education

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering, Sciences or Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Education

  • Master’s of Science in Engineering (MSE) or Master of Business Administration (MBA).
