Disney Live Entertainment Costuming Character Programs and Development seeks candidates for a Character Technical Product Manager position. This position is integral to the development of technology that supports branded character entertainment offerings throughout the globe.

You will report to the Manager -Character Technical Development.

This role is an Internal Assignment / Project Hire with no guarantee of permanent placement.

What You Will Do:

  • Assist in the development and refinement of character technology products, including bench builds, testing, and operational validation

  • Provide input on development efforts as subject matter expert on design constraints that will create the most successful product in a daily operation environment

  • Support vendor relationships, supporting product sustainment and sourcing new technology partners as needed

  • Contribute to the development of proposals and budgetary planning

  • Participate in quality control operations, including training of QC partners, continual refinement of technology QC practices, and the inspections of components as needed

  • Create and update technical documentation, user guides, and supplemental materials

  • Share input on routine client relations resolution of any questions or concerns that arise from our end users globally

  • Travel to domestic and international locations to support installations, special events, and training initiatives

  • Serve as a client-facing point of contact for operational partners, addressing supporting the resolve of issues and ensuring timely resolution

  • Help to draft and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and best practices, including BOM revisions, sustainment plans, and troubleshooting guides

  • Support programming of elements for new shows or offerings

  • Provide input on opportunities for continuous improvement in product performance and operational workflows

  • Support virtual review sessions, including technical setup for video, audio, and presentation systems

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of one year of experience in technical entertainment and/or Disney character technology

  • Experience working in entertainment theme park operations, including meet and greets, special events, stage shows, or equivalent experience

  • Perform effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced environments while upholding a professional image for our team

  • Strong technical aptitude with experience in entertainment technologies, mechanical, electrical, or mechatronic systems

  • Demonstrated ability to identify operational gaps and implement effective solutions

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration with creative and technical teams.

  • Schedule availability to varying work schedules, including extended hours, holidays, and weekends

  • Capability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid US Passport

  • Project management skills

  • Proficiency in electronics, mechatronics, or a mechanical or electrical engineering field

  • Knowledgeable in basic garment construction, technical packets, and quality assessments

  • Proficiency in SQL, JavaScript, Python, and/or HTML, CSS

  • Skilled in Fusion 360, and/or SolidWorks

  • Experience working with Git workflows

  • Multi-lingual

Required Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred Education:

  • Advanced education in technical theater, technical entertainment, technical production, and/or 3+ years of professional experience in related fields
