Come join us as a Senior Electrical Engineer for the Planning & Sustaining Team at Reedy Creek Energy Services (RCES) which is a small team of highly trained and skilled engineers responsible for providing engineering oversight for over 40 square miles of utility infrastructure serving the Walt Disney Company. As the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will provide engineering services to support the portfolio of capital improvement projects, ensuring consistency with department strategy, commitments, and goals. This role will be the primary asset owner responsible for sustainment of and the development of strategic plans supporting process control and communication systems.
The Senior Electrical Engineer will be a direct report to the Planning & Sustaining Engineering Team Lead, RCES Engineering & Programs.
This position will be a full-time, in the office position in Orlando, FL.
You Will
Serve as a subject matter expert in solving complex issues related to the operation and maintenance of electrical utility systems.
Develop proposals for electric system asset replacement to ensure adequate system capacity and reliability.
Develop and maintain electric design and construction standards and operating guidelines.
Evaluate and review equipment specifications; assess new products and services for potential implementation.
Perform utility studies, including, but not limited to, long-range plans, protection/sectionalizing, arc flash, power factor correction, contingency evaluations, system loss, grounding, protection (relay coordination and settings) and system reliability utilizing engineering analysis software.
Prepare substation feeder analysis showing all critical attributes including load allocation, load flow, voltage drop and fault current on substation and distributor systems utilizing engineering analysis software.
Provide oversight for capital improvement planning to address system capacity, end-of-life equipment replacement and asset improvements to enhance capacity and reliability.
Develop procedures for routine operations and troubleshooting specialized equipment and systems.
Partner with the Electric Operations team on maintenance and reliability of the electric distribution system.
You Will Have
5+ years of experience in utility distribution operations and maintenance.
Experience with one or more of the following: electrical transmission, substation, underground distribution systems, material and equipment (69kV, 12kV, 5kV).
Working knowledge of applicable standards and codes applicable to electric utility systems including IEEE and NESC Standards.
Possess strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
Ability to interpret wiring and schematic drawings.
Ability to model electrical systems using one or more of the following, SKM, DNV Synergi, Aspen, ETAP.
Must be available to work outside normal work hours in response to job demand, equipment availability, and system/equipment emergencies as required including in adverse weather events.
Ability to manage workload and balance constantly evolving priorities while maintaining productivity.
Able to work individually or as part of a team to develop new control schemes, support existing schemes, and test and evaluate equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
Current registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida or current registration in another state with the ability to become registered in Florida within six (6) months of employment. Note that registration in Florida is a requirement of employment.
Knowledge of NERC standards and compliance conditions.
Required Education
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution is required.
