About the Role & Program
The ABC News Early Morning team produces 1.5 hours of overnight news programming on the ABC network (World News Now and Good Morning America: First Look) with 1.5 million combined viewers on average per day, while also servicing Good Morning America's and ABC News Affiliates production needs!
Throughout the experience, interns have an opportunity to collaborate with producers, attend editorial meetings and learn the inner workings of show operations.
*YOU MUST BE WILLING TO WORK A REGULAR OVERNIGHT SHIFT (IN PERSON) FROM 8PM – 4AM, SUNDAY-THURSDAY. The approximate dates of this internship are January 2026 through early June 2026.
What You Will Do
Aid producers in all facets of news gathering and production, encompassing on-air segments.
Support the delivery of show production elements, involving the distribution of lineups and scripts.
Participating and accompanying the production team for story pieces, providing assistance with logistics, and conducting Zoom interviews.
Propose compelling stories and segments for broadcasts. Following training, take on responsibilities for producing, writing, and editing segments for on-air presentation.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Previous experience (academic or internship) in journalism (digital and/or broadcast); television production, news and news media production; and/or television news script writing
Experience working in collaborative environments, researching and/or using a range of tools to acquire information and present findings
Experience with basic video editing
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with and/or interest in pitching trending stories and segments
Previous internship experience in a professional newsroom setting
Avid editing experience preferred, but not required. Encouraged to edit for shows, after being fully trained
Education
Major or previous coursework in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, Film/Television or a related field
Junior or Senior year preferred
Eligibility Requirements & Internship Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
Be at least 18 years of age
Possess unrestricted work authorization
Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program
Additional Information
Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
The approximate dates of this internship are January 2026 through early June 2026
Fully available to work OVERNIGHT SHIFTS in person Sunday – Friday 40 hours per week
Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the New York, New York area
Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
