About the Role and Program
The ESPN Sports Marketing team is a centralized group of strategic brand and content marketers. We lead campaign and media strategy, spend, budgeting, and fan engagement across brands, events, platforms, and shows.
As a Sports Marketing Intern, you will help drive fan engagement on ESPN, the ESPN App, and other priority platforms. Interns will have the opportunity to collaborate with various departments and stakeholders across the organization including the creative, research, and programming teams to help drive cross department learnings and uncover opportunities. This internship is a 16-week opportunity located in ESPN’s New York City office from January 2026-May 2026.
What You Will Do
Support the planning, execution, and measurement of marketing campaigns for major sports properties, including MLB, NCAA Championships (such as the College World Series and Gymnastics), the Australian Open, The Masters, AUSL, and LOVB
Assist with marketing ESPN’s broadcast and streaming offerings across ESPN platforms and paid media
Help coordinate cross-promotions with partners, owning timelines, deliverables, and approvals to meet deadlines
Research audience, competitor, and cultural trends; summarizing insights and recommending tests
Partner with creative, research, programming, social, and media to share learnings and unlock opportunities
Compile recaps with goals, creative, assets, results, and next steps
Required Qualifications and Skills
Experience or coursework in sports marketing and core marketing principles
Strong writing and communication skills
Working knowledge of Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter with proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Curiosity to test, learn, and improve strategy
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Familiarity with ESPN properties listed above and the direct-to-consumer sports landscape
Knowledge of the listed sports from both fan and business views
Interest in current trends in culture and social media
Appreciation for new technologies and clear storytelling
Education
Junior or Senior year preferred
Major or previous coursework in Communications, Marketing, Sports Media or related major preferred
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program
Be at least 18 years of age
Possess unrestricted work authorization
Additional Information
Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
Fully available from Monday through Friday for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week
The dates of this internship are January through May 2026
Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the New York City area
Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
