At Disney Experiences Technology, our team creates world-class immersive digital experiences for the Company’s premier vacation brands including Disney’s Parks & Resorts worldwide, Disney Cruise Line, Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, and Disney Vacation Club. The Disney Experiences Technology team is responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation, and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including the MyDisneyExperience app and Hey, Disney!
This role sits in the Core Sales Platform in our Commerce space, and our group is the "one-stop shop" for external clients approved to sell the magical Disney products. Our team focuses on delivering outstanding Application Programming Interfaces – API, that allows third party companies sell the magical Disney products such as Resort Accommodation, Theme Park Tickets, and our world-class Dining experience across our Walt Disney World and Disneyland facilities.
This Senior Software Engineer will apply practical knowledge of development and engineering to conceive, design, develop, test, and implement software fixes, improvements, components, and new software systems and applications of moderate complexity. This Engineer will focus on designing, coding and develops highly scalable software systems in a designated functional focus areas under minimal direction.
What You'll Do:
Complete assigned component level software development and fixes using new or existing technologies, participating in development of specs, assigned components, projects, and fixes
Participate in the design process of new features and improvements to the software platform in an agile environment
Have an ability to build and maintain documentation, procedures, and work instructions for development or operations team - using AI tools as needed to help reduce manual overhead
Responsible for Release Management, Service Management and build configuration in highly coordinated environment while using DevOps tools like Harness, Rundeck, API gateways, AppDynamics and Splunk
Coordinate, influence, and mentor with collaborative project teams, key clients, and other technical groups in the organization - articulating needs to both technical and non-tech audiences
Work closely with Quality Engineers, Product and Project Managers, Architects, and Business stakeholders to develop solutions that enhance AI-assisted code development through improved prompt engineering. This involves using tools like GitHub Copilot, Q Developer, and other approved AI platforms to integrate static code analysis, vulnerability detection, and performance optimization within CI/CD pipelines
Ensure a process orientation across the technical/project team, being able to develop, implement and improve process with a focus on engineering best practices
Provide technical direction and evaluate the quality of work from vendors
Required Qualifications & Skills:
5+ years of software development experience
Experience collecting, reviewing and updating requirements and/or user stories in an Agile environment
Experience writing technical documentation and providing engineering deliverables
Provide technical leadership, able to encourage and mentor technical members to perform at their highest potential
Validated Knowledge/Experience In Relevant Technologies:
Java
AWS – Lambda, SQS, S3, API Gateway, CloudWatch, Docker, Kubernetes, ECS
Web Services (SOAP & REST), GraphQL
JSON
Software Performance Optimization (memory, CPU, scaling, etc...)
Message Queues
HTTP Protocol
SQL, No SQL
Harness, Rundeck, AppDynamics, Splunk
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven understanding of micro-services, RESTful Web Services, or APIs using Spring boot, Spring Cloud Function, JPA, and/or JAXB
Experience with event driven architecture, including technologies such as JMS, RabbitMQ, Kafka, and/or similar solutions
Experience with source control and build deploy tools such as Git, Git Prime, Sonar Jenkins, Maven, and/or CICD.
Experience with MySQL, Mongo, Aurora, Oracle, Maria relational Databases
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
