The Lead Designer - Softlines is responsible for the creative and product development excellence of supplier licensees for the Softlines category. You will also be responsible for supporting the Product Development Manager Softlines in any product development needs, which drives growth for our key retail accounts.

-This is a 12- month contract

Brand Stewardship

  • Brand guardianship: brand stewardship for all of TWDC's brands, protecting our most treasured assets and ensuring proper use of assets across all executions
  • Protect sensitive information and uphold company policies on asset logistics
  • Creative Execution: Execute and project manage Softlines product designs for commercial output to the highest standard, ensuring products are delivered on-shelf and on-time via efficient workflow management.
  • Brand Guardianship: Brand steward for the entire TWDC portfolio (including Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, 20th Century, and Disney), protecting and upholding our intellectual property across all licensed executions.

Licensee Product Development

  • Ensuring all product approvals are completed in a timely manner, fulfil asset enquiries and general creative-related support
  • Creative inspiration, mock ups and strategic pitching
  • Design trend updates, plus ad-hoc creative as identified by business needs

Internal

  • Responsible for managing the communication between licensees and the business in relation to the timing and development of products. The role will also support any new business pitches, product concepts and ideation/brainstorms as is required by the commercial team and the Snr. Manager, Product Development.

Ideal experience:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Design, i.e. Graphic/Communication Design, Product Development, industrial design.
  • The position requires a graphic designer with a minimum 2+ years experience, working in a product design environment. Any experience in homewares and fashion an advantage.
  • Self-starter with proactive growth mindset.
  • Strong relationship building and communication skills a must
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of TWDC’s portfolio of brands an advantage
  • Ability to translate trend into commercial opportunities
  • Strong knowledge in graphic design incl. all software (Adobe Creative Cloud)
  • Can follow the product development process from research to execution
