Disney Digital Entertainment, a division of Disney Experiences, is redefining how audiences interact with The Walt Disney Company. The mission is creating the ‘digital front door’ that unites all of Disney’s magic into a new interactive universe.

Disney Digital Entertainment is seeking talented individuals passionate about pushing the boundaries of game engine technology. As a critical part of our team, you will leverage your expertise to build and optimize feature-rich engines, ensuring smooth and high-performance experiences for global audiences. This role will report to the Director of Engineering, Game Engines. 

This role can be based remotely in Sweden, Denmark, Finland or Norway.

What You Will Do / Who You Are

Game Engine Development 
Use your experience with game engines to help build powerful, feature-rich systems. You’ll be working on the tools and systems that make games run smoothly, supported by a collaborative team. 

Versatile Programmer (C++, C#, Verse, Python & More) 
Write clean, maintainable code in the language that’s most suited in any given situation. You’ll be solving practical problems and contributing to systems that developers and players rely on.  

Core Systems Contributor
Help improve the core systems working with Unreal Engine (UE) and Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN). You’ll be part of the effort to make development faster, smoother, and more enjoyable. 

Performance Profiling
Help identify and fix performance issues whether it’s memory usage, frame rate drops, or load times.  

Documentation
Write clear, useful documentation that helps others understand and build on your work. It’s a key part of keeping the team moving forward. 

Collaboration
Work closely with engineers, designers, and artists. You’ll ask questions, share ideas, and grow your skills in a supportive, cross-functional environment.

You have professional experience working with game engines and want to keep learning and experimenting.

You enjoy collaborating across disciplines and have experience supporting teammates to keep projects moving smoothly. 

Clear Communicator
You're comfortable sharing ideas, providing updates, and explaining technical concepts to engineers, designers, and stakeholders. 

Strategic Problem-Solver
You think ahead, identify potential issues early, and develop practical solutions that make a real impact.

Technical Know-How
You understand the fundamentals of software development, scalable systems, and platform architecture, and have a proven track record of building and maintaining robust systems in similar environments. For this role, experience with C++ is required; knowledge of other languages is a plus. 

Background
Whether you studied computer science or learned on the job, what matters most is your ability to contribute, collaborate, and grow. Experience with Unreal Engine is a bonus.
